3-YEAR-OLD GIRL INJURED IN WRECK AFTER MAN RUNS FROM COPS IN HIGH SPEED CHASE

Marcus Harris, 27, was involved in a high speed chase on Brookshire Freeway near I-85 in Charlotte, NC on November 18, 2020.

Marcus was wanted for felonious assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer out of Fayetteville, North Carolina. 

Police in Charlotte spotted Marcus driving a white Toyota Camry on Brookshire Freeway. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Marcus fled, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. 

Marcus was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed after refusing to stop for officers. Marcus ran a red light while attempting to turn onto I-85 South, and struck a Mitsubishi, which was traveling east on Brookshire Freeway. 

This collision pushed both vehicles into the path of a Chevrolet Cruz, causing a secondary collision. The crash resulted in serious injuries to several people involved. 

Immediately following the collision, the Camry caught fire, and officers worked to extinguish the fire, arrest the suspect, and provide aid to those injured in the collision.

Three passengers in a Mitsubishi Gallant sustained serious injuries, and the fourth passenger, a young child sustained life-threatening injuries. Each passenger was taken to the hospital where the young child remains in critical condition. 

Marcus was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver and sole occupant of a Chevrolet Cruz sustained minor injuries.

Marcus is a convicted felon and is being treated for serious injuries he sustained as a result of this collision. He will be served the warrants upon his release from the hospital. Marcus will also face additional charges for the crimes he committed which led to this crash.
