On March 1, 2022, Curtis Wilson, 18, was arrested and charged with the murder of Jayden Blackmon, 17. Curtis is the second person arrested in the homicide. Gerry Burns, 18, was the first suspect arrested. Jayden was murdered in a drive-by shooting on February 19, 2023.
Jayden was shot and killed at apartments on Lynn Street. At 4 p.m. Jayden was at the apartment complex parking lot socializing with several people.
A vehicle quickly drove by and shot several times. Jayden was shot multiple times. The suspect vehicle then sped off. Paramedics took Jayden to the hospital, where he later died. Gerry was arrested days later on February 22, 2023 and charged with murder, robbery, assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill, and stolen vehicle. On March 1st Curtis was arrested and charged with murder.
