The Winter Snow Storm Fern caused an commercial truck to flip over on Interstate 85

On January 25, 2026 an 18-wheeler truck slid on ice and rolled over on Interstate 85 in Gastonia, NC. The snow storm has caused havoc across North Carolina and Charlotte.

The crash occurred in the afternoon. The truck was driving with a heavy load when it began sliding on ice and snow.

The truck applied brakes and then glided across traffic and flipped upside down. The truck landed in the middle of the interstate. It does not appear that any other vehicles were involved. Other motorists stopped in time to avoid crashing into the 18-wheeler truck.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene and traffic was rerouted at the exit before the crash. I-85 northbound was shut down due to the 18-wheeler rollover accident. No injuries were reported.
