A massive school shooting occurred on May 24, 2022 at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas around 2 in the afternoon. 14 children were killed in the shooting, along with 1 teacher. 2 cops were shot but survived. The suspect identified as Salvador Ramos is dead.
Salvador entered the elementary school armed with a handgun and rifle, Salvador began shooting and killing everyone in sight. 14 kids were killed on site. A teacher was shot dead also.
2 cops approached Salvador, but he shot them. The cops were sent to the hospital and survived. SWAT teams and the FBI were called into the scene, along with a police mobile unit helicopter.
The suspect ended up dead, it is not clear if he killed himself or if he was killed by cops. Salvador attended Uvalde High School.
This is the deadliest school shooting in Texas history.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott had this to say:
Texans across the state are grieving for the victims of this senseless crime and for the community of Uvalde. We thank the courageous first responders who worked to finally secure Robb Elementary School. I have instructed the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to work with local law enforcement to fully investigate this crime. The Texas Division of Emergency Management is charged with providing local officials all resources necessary to respond to this tragedy as the State of Texas works to ensure the community has what it needs to heal.
