$3 MILLION IN METH AND HEROIN SEIZED FROM MOTHER RIDING WITH SON

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge in Hidalgo, Texas arrested a 42-year-old woman and her 18-year-old son after detecting $2,920,000 worth of alleged methamphetamine and heroin in the SUV she was driving.

The drug bust was on February 29, 2020. Both of the suspects are U.S. citizens, the woman was driving a grey SUV arriving from Mexico. A secondary inspection of the SUV, which included using non-intrusive imaging technology allowed the officers to discover suspected narcotics hidden within the tires.

Officers removed 23 packages of methamphetamine weighing 134.5 pounds and one package of heroin that weighed 5.73 pounds from the four tires.

Federal officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle, subsequently arresting the two occupants and turning them over to the custody of agents with The Department of Homeland Security.
