Messiah Barrino, 12, was murdered in a violent double shooting on December 7, 2024. A 15-year-old girl was also shot. The violence was in Monroe, NC. Messiah attended Monroe Middle School. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram.
A fight began between at least 20 people in a neighborhood on Skywatch Lane around 6:30 p.m. Someone from both groups then began shooting at each other.
None of the people involved in the altercation was shot. But unfortunately Messiah and the 15-year-old girl were shot by stray bullets. Both were innocent bystanders.
The assailants then dispersed. Messiah and the teen girl were rushed to the hospital. Sadly on December 9, 2024 Messiah died from the shooting while receiving intensive emergency care at the hospital.
The 15 year-old girl remains in the hospital and is expected to recover. No arrests have been made.
