Markel Brown, 24, died on February 17, 2022 at Atrium Health Center in Charlotte, NC as a result of a car crash. Damian Ross, 24, is now charged with second degree murder without regard. Markel had a 7-month-old baby girl named Zoey.
The car crash was on February 7, 2022 on Old Concord Road Charlotte, NC. Damian was driving a vehicle with Raven Moye, 21, Markel, and Joquetta Clair, 22, as passengers. Markel and Joquetta were in a relationship and have a baby girl together.
Police began a high speed pursuit and Damain lost control and went off the road, striking a tree, going airborne, and crashing into a building.
Markel and his girlfriend Joquetta were in the backseat, at the moment of impact they were both thrown through the windshield out of the car. Joquetta sustained massive cuts and bruises to her face and was hospitalized.
Damian ran from the scene and was not caught until days later. Raven had murder warrants for her arrests out of another county, she was arrested the next day on February 8th.
Markel was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. After days of emergency treatment, Markel died on February 17, 2022.
Damian was arrested on February 11, 2022 and charged with murder out of Pitt County, NC.
Also once Markel died on February 17th, Damian was charged with second degree murder with out regard, reckless driving to endanger, felony hit and run, property damage fail to stop, and flee arrest with motor vehicle.
Markel was an up and coming rapper, he even took a picture with the famous rapper DaBaby.
