MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SHOOTING 5 PEOPLE ON NEW YEARS EVE

On December 16, 2024 Daevion Crawford, 20, plead guilty to shooting 5 people. The quintuple shooting was on New Year’s Eve 2023 in Charlotte, NC.

At 11:30 p.m. moments before the 2024 New Year, 5 people were shot at Romare Bearden Park. Thousands of people were gathered at the park to celebrate the New Year. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Daevion randomly shot into the large crowds, 5 people were shot as the shots rang out. Herds of people were seen running for safety.

Some people were trampled during the shooting. Kids were present also. The victims were rushed to the hospital by ambulance and are in critical condition.

Daevion was identified as a suspect via video surveillance. Daevion was arrested on December 31, 2023 and charged with going armed to the terror of the people and 5 counts of assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill.

In December 2024 less than a year later, Daevion pleaded guilty to five counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Daevion was sentenced to 20-36 months in prison. He must also complete a cognitive behavioral course.
