24 KILOS OF FENTANYL AND 25 KILOS OF COCAINE SEIZED, $464,000 CASH FOUND

On February 13, 2023 a major cocaine and fentanyl drug bust occurred that involved latino drug cartels and got men from Charlotte, NC arrested. 24 kilograms of fentanyl, 3 kilograms of Black Tar Heroin, 25 kilograms of Cocaine, several hundred fentanyl pills, 5 firearms, and $464,550 in illegal cash were found during a drug bust in Cabarrus County, NC. The men arrested were Juan Carlos Jasso-Sanchez, Michael Thomas, Delvaccie Douglas, and Ernest King.

Over the last several weeks detectives from the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office concluded three separate investigations targeting illicit fentanyl and crack cocaine trafficking.

These investigations totaled millions of dollars in fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin.

Juan Carlos Jasso-Sanchez of Concord, NC was charged with Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Trafficking Cocaine, Maintaining a Dwelling/Vehicle for the Sale of Controlled Substances, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Jasso-Sanchez received a $1.5 million bond and is currently in custody at the Cabarrus County Detention Center.      

Ernest King III of Charlotte, NC, was charged with Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling for the sale of Controlled Substances, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ernest received a $400,000 bond and is no longer in the custody of the Cabarrus County Detention Center.  

Michael Thomas of Charlotte, NC was charged with two counts of Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Possession of a Firearm by Felon, three counts of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance. Michael received a $300,000 bond and remains in custody at the Cabarrus County Detention Center.

Delvaccie Douglas of Charlotte, NC was charged with Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Simple Possession of Marijuana. Delvaccie received a $155,000 bond and remains in custody at the Cabarrus County Detention Center.

The FBI and DEA helped in the investigation to determine secret locations in Charlotte and Cabarrus County where the drugs were found. Federal officials and local detectives conducted surveillance on the suspects to track drug sells and distribution. 

The drugs were coming in from latino drug cartels all the way from the United States border. The suspects were arrested on February 13, 2023 at separate locations, $464,550 in straight cash was found. 

24 kilograms (52.92 pounds) of fentanyl, 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) of Black Tar Heroin, 25 kilograms (55.13 pounds) of cocaine, several hundred fentanyl pills, and 5 firearms were also found during the drug bust.

Overdose cases, street level drug sales, and transnational organized drug trafficking organizations have taken over the intake of drugs on city streets.

Fentanyl is about 100 times more potent than morphine and is responsible for over 150 overdose deaths per day in the United States.
