Ja’Nyah Smallwood had vaginal and anal blunt trauma injuries, she died from fentanyl in an abandoned apartment
New details show how Ja’Nyah Smallwood died from fentanyl toxicity on October 28, 2022 at abandoned apartments in Charlotte, NC. The apartments were on Norris Ave. Janyah’s official cause of death was ruled as fentanyl toxicity, yet she had extensive vaginal injuries and lacerations.
Janyah had pulmonary vascular congestion and edema. Sadly, Janyah also had perivaginal and anal blunt trauma injuries after she was found dead in an abandoned apartment that was due for demolition. Yet, this case still was not deemed a rape or homicide by police.
Janyah was found dead and naked on October 28, 2022. There is no word on how the blunt vaginal and anal injuries occurred on Janyah. Within Janyah’s inferior vagina there was a contusional hemorrhage of the mucosa.
There was also a superficial laceration on her perineal raphe. There were two superficial lacerations extending from Janyah’s anus superiorly and another laceration extending from Janyah’s anus inferiorly.
Janyah was residing in the abandoned apartment that she was found dead in. Janyah was reportedly doing drugs in the apartment that included cocaine, fentanyl, and percocet.
Toxicologic analysis of a peripheral blood sample showed a cocaine content in Janyah’s blood stream.
A deadly amount of fentanyl was also found in Janyah’s blood. Hence, her official cause of death is fentanyl toxicity. Janyah leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter.
