37-year-old Rontrey Digsby was killed on December 18, 2023 in Charlotte, NC due to complications from a car accident that knocked him off of his wheel-chair. Rontrey was handicap for years prior.
On December 5, 2023, at 9:14 a.m., Rontrey was hit by a car at an apartment complex on Contemporary Place. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram now.
Rontrey was operating a motorized wheelchair through the parking lot. Rontrey was then struck by a 2008 Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Toyota remained on scene. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in this collision. Rontrey was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.However, on December 18, 2023, Rontrey requested medical attention due to complications from injuries he sustained in the crash on December 5th.
An ambulance transported Rontrey to Atrium Health Main Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing.
