The defendant’s attorney immediately filed an appeal after a jury convicted Andy Garcia of murder. One suspect had charges dismissed
24-year-old Andy Garcia was sentenced to life in prison in July 2026 after a jury convicted him of murdering 30-year-old Selvin Yovani Lara-Reyes in Charlotte, NC. Mario Monroy was also charged with the murder, but his charges were dismissed.

Andy left the party but came back later that night to confront Selvin. Andy and Mario were accused of shooting Selvin dead and even chasing him inside his apartment unit.
Selvin died on scene. Andy and Mario were later arrested charged with murder. However, Mario’s charges were dropped by prosecutors due to lack of evidence. Andy was later convicted of the murder in July 2026.
Andy’s attorney immediately filed an appeal to overturn the murder conviction.
