Demetri McGruder, 24, was murdered on April 15, 2026. His girlfriend Makayla Hooks, 23, is accused of stabbing him to death in Cornelius, NC. Demetri and Makayla had just got engaged and planned to get married soon.

Makayla was very upset about the marriage being called off. Makayla was in the kitchen cutting steak when Demetri dumped her.
Makayla and Demetri started to argue. Makayla is accused of stabbing Demetri in the neck with the knife. A lot of blood was leaking in the kitchen from Demetri’s neck.
It is unknown who called the police, but when cops arrived, Demetri was pronounced dead on site. Makayla was arrested charged with murder.
