Video: A cop had near death experience, was hanging on tow truck and nearly fell off. Tow truck driver shot dead
Johnathan Otto, 35, is the tow truck driver that sped down the road with a police officer hanging on the tow truck by the window in Milwaukee. Otto died after the cop shot him on March 12, 2026.
Otto was wanted for a parole violation. Officers in full uniform encountered the suspect who was inside a full-sized flatbed tow truck with a passenger in the truck.
The officer approached Otto and ordered that he exit the tow truck. Otto refused and the officer attempted to remove him from the truck at which time Otto immediately started the vehicle and suddenly drove off at a high rate of speed while the officer was clinging to the suspect and the driver’s side window.
The suspect drove the truck for several blocks as the officer clung to the side of the truck. Otto began driving left to right in attempts to knock the officer off the tow truck.
The officer gave several commands to the suspect to stop the truck, even informing the suspect that if he did not stop, he would shoot.
Otto did not want to go back to prison so he continued to refuse these commands multiple times. At this time, the officer shot Otto dead which brought the tow truck to a stop.
The passenger was not physically injured by the gunfire but was transported for medical treatment out of an abundance of caution.
