On February 23, 2026, police interrupted a large scale drug trafficking organization in Nash County, NC. 47-year-old Deshunto Alston and 46-year-old Maurice Randall were arrested in the drug bust. A total of 28 kilograms of cocaine were thrown from the window during a high speed chase. The suspects were responsible for distributing 30–50 kilograms of cocaine monthly into Nash and surrounding counties.

Cops attempted a traffic stop on a silver Infiniti vehicle driven by Deshunto. He refused to stop, starting a pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 130 mph.

As he fled, Deshunto discarded approximately 28 kilograms of cocaine from the vehicle window. A vehicle observed following Deshunto was seen stopping to retrieve some of the discarded narcotics; the driver of the second vehicle was identified as Maurice.

Deputies first attempted a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver at lower speeds, but Deshunto was a good enough driver to evade it.

Deshunto eventually crashed and sustained serious injuries and was transported to Wake Med Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

The crash and scattered evidence required a temporary closure of US 64, with traffic diverted to alternate routes. Deputies recovered the 28 kilograms of cocaine that had been thrown out during the pursuit. During a search of Deshunto’s vehicle, deputies located 2 additional kilograms of cocaine.

Maurice was arrested on scene.
