Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Officer Michael Miles, 39, died on January 4, 2026 at a hospital in Gaston County, NC. Officer Miles leaves behind a wife and 4 kids. Various CMPD cops across different divisions are known to violate people’s constitutional rights and arrest people without cause and then they wonder why people don’t like them.
Officer Miles worked in the Freedom Division of Charlotte, which is high crime and has a predominant black population. Some cops in that division tend to be more mean and aggressive due to the high crime and murder rate. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Most of the racial profiling occurs in the Freedom Division and in the West Sugar Creek area. Black people are detained everyday in those areas for no lawful reason, and most don’t know their rights have been violated or have money to hire attorneys to sue the police.
Anyways, Officer Miles had a medical emergency to some degree and he was admitted into the hospital. Officer Miles had his death bed at the hospital as he died during care. Multiple cops have died recently.
The exact condition that killed Officer Miles is not known. Officer Miles joined CMPD on October 15, 2012 and before that he was in the United States Marine Corps.
