ARREST MADE AFTER MALE VICTIM KILLED IN SHOOTING

On August 3, 2025 Steven Downing, 29, was arrested accused of murdering Stephen Carroll, 39, in Charlotte, NC on South Blvd. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Stephen was shot and killed shortly before midnight on August 2, 2025. Officers responded to gunshots. An ambulance took Stephen to the hospital where he eventually died.

Steven was tracked down and transported to the law enforcement center where he was interviewed by detectives.

At the conclusion of the interview, Steven was transported to the custody of the jail and charged with murder and robbery.
