Zailan Peeler had blunt force head and neck trauma, his SUV went down an 100 ft hill, a woman accused him of sexual assault
Zailan Peeler, 25, died on January 24, 2025 in a car accident in Charlotte, NC. Zailan was an assistant basketball coach at Myers Park High School. The cause of death was ruled as a suicide. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Zailan once played basketball for Myers Park as a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, he graduated in 2017. He earned a scholarship and played in college for a few years, he never got a chance to play in the NBA.
On January 24, 2025 a 31-year-old woman accused Zailan of sexually assaulting her. It appears Zailan knew about the allegations.
As he was driving home around 4 a.m. Zailan did not have his seat belt on. His SUV drove off the road and rolled over down an 100 foot embankment, the SUV hit trees in the tumble.
Zailan died on impact, the crash caused blunt force head, neck, and torso injuries on Zailan. Officials say there were no skid marks or signs of attempts to slow down or stop. Medical officials distinguished Zailan’s cause of death as suicide.

It is unknown exactly what occurred in the sexual assault allegations. But the woman says she was sexually assaulted while she was sleeping.
