41-year-old Vijay Amirtharaj was arrested on March 31, 2025 accused of driving while impaired. Vijay is a project engineer for a product manufacturing company. He is also an experienced mechanical engineer.
Vijay was driving on S. Clarkson St. when he drove through a intersection, missed his turn, and drove through a fence at the Charlotte Pipe & Foundry Co. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Police responded to the scene, and it is alleged that Vijay had red glassy eyes, and a mild odor of alcohol coming from his mouth.
Cops say Vijay admitted to having two beers within 3 hours of the incident. Authorities made Vijay perform intoxication tests, and he performed poorly, according to officials.
Prosecutors say Vijay had a blood alcohol content reading of 0.10. Vijay was arrested on scene and charged with DWI. See more DWI cases here.
