MR C’s SOUL FOOD ROBBED, EMPLOYEE SHOT, 2 MEN GOING TO PRISON

Date:

On August 11, 2021 a U.S. District Judge sentenced to prison Deonte Curry, 27, and Trevon Ricks, 26, for the attempted armed robbery of a Mr. C’s Original Soul Food restaurant in Charlotte, NC.

An employee sustained multiple gunshot injuries during the robbery.

On March 5, 2020, at noon Deonte and Trevon attempted to rob Mr. C’s Original Soul Food restaurant, located on North Tryon Street Charlotte, NC. They entered the restaurant through a rear access door, and ordered an employee working in the kitchen area to get on the ground.

The employee complied and the two robbers headed toward the front of the restaurant. Upon entering the front area, Deonte pointed a loaded 9mm pistol equipped with an extended magazine at the restaurant owner and demanded his wallet.

While the owner put his hands up, an employee tackled Deonte in an attempt to disrupt the robbery.

A struggle ensued and Deonte fired his pistol several times, striking the employee in the chest, stomach, left arm, and right hand. Trevon ran while the restaurant owner continued to struggle with Deonte, until police officers arrived and arrested him.

Trevon was apprehended nearby shortly thereafter. In September 2020, both Deonte and Trevon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act Robbery and attempted Hobbs Act Robbery, also aiding and abetting.

Deonte was ordered to serve 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release. Trevon was sentenced to five years in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
