51-year-old Stephanie Alexander was sentenced to 5 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter on December 5, 2024. Stephanie shot and killed Tyra Crosby, 25, after Tyra was with Stephanie’s husband in Stephanie’s home.
Tyra was killed on July 18, 2023 at a home on Porter Street Charlotte, NC. At 5:21 a.m., Stephanie came home likely from work, when she arrived she found Tyra who she did not know in her home.
Tyra was with Stephanie’s husband. Stephanie saw Tyra’s clothes on the sofa and picked up a gun, Stephanie’s husband then tried to take the gun out of his wife’s hands.
But Stephanie fired a shot at the bathroom door and Tyra was shot. Tyra died on scene. Stephanie called 911 herself and said she had shot someone.
Tyra and the man met at a gambling arcade and she came home with him. Stephanie was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter.
At her 2024 trial Stephanie plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
