On March 9, 2020, Briana Stephenson, 19, was pronounced deceased by doctors at Atrium Health hospital due to injuries sustained on March 8, 2020 during a shooting in which Briana was shot in the head. 18-year-old Jaquavious Royster was also shot in the shooting.
The violent shooting occurred in Charlotte, NC at the intersection of Tuckaseegee Road at Freedom Drive.
On March 8, 2020, at around 11:30 a.m., both victims had been inside a vehicle and were stopped at the intersection when unknown suspects, who were in a separate vehicle, shot at the victims. The suspects fled the scene and were not located.
Both victims were sent to the hospital. Brianna was shot in the head and had life-threatening injuries. Jaquavious received only minor injuries during the incident.
The next day Briana died at the hospital from her injuries.
