Joan Burke, 61, is charged with first degree murder after being accused of killing her husband Melvin Weller, 62, on February 11, 2022 in Palm Springs, Florida.
A family member arrived home from work, and saw Melvin on the kitchen floor dead in a pool of blood. 911 was called and officers said Melvin was found to have been stabbed 140 times.
The victim was also bludgeoned with a meat cleaver which caused a fractured skull.
Melvin had lacerations on the palms of his hands, which indicates he was trying to stop the attack. Officers noticed blood spatters and smears on the walls, kitchen cabinets, and counters.
Joan was on the scene when police arrived, and she remained silent. Joan was arrested and charged with murder.
