A wild shooting was caught on video at a liquor store in Nashville, Tennessee. A security guard was even shot and killed in the altercation, he is identified as Robert Meek, 59. The shooting was on June 2, 2022 at Frugal MacDoogal liquor store.
Two Nashville Police officers shot and wounded a 40-year-old gunman during an exchange of gunfire inside the liquor store.
The male suspect fought with the store’s security guard after being confronted about shoplifting Hennessy and other liquor. The security guard was fatally shot with his own pistol during the parking lot fight with the suspect.
The suspect then retreated back into the liquor store with the security guard’s gun.
Officers arrived on the scene less than three minutes afterwards.
The first 911 call of the parking lot shooting was received at 8:26 p.m. 3 cops who were close by working the Entertainment District Initiative rushed to the liquor store.
Upon arrival, they saw the security guard on the ground being tended to by a random citizen. The officers were told the gunman had fled into the store.
The cops discovered the gunman at the cooler in the liquor store. All three officers yelled repeated commands to the man to drop the pistol and show them his hands. The gunman fired shots at the officers, resulting in the officers returning fire and shooting the suspect.
The gunman has wounds to his extremities. He is in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The security guard was pronounced dead on arrival at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The cops that fired shots are on routine administrative assignment, as is policy for officers involved in a shooting incident.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, at the request of the District Attorney is leading both the investigation into the fatal shooting of the security guard and the investigation into the wounding of the gunman. The Police Department’s Office of Professional Accountability will, by policy, be conducting an administrative investigation.
