A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed by police on August 11, 2023. The teenager was killed by a cop with the Mesquite Police Department in Mesquite, Texas. The teen suspect was driving an SUV. Cops tried pulling over the suspect vehicle for unknown reasons. The teen sped off and refused to stop.
The officer gave chase. After a few miles the teen pulled over in a residential front yard and exited the vehicle.
The officer gave commands for the teen to stop and get on the ground. The teen proceeds to open the back door of the SUV, the officer then fatally shoots the teen 5 times.
The teenager died on the scene. The teen was unarmed and did not display a weapon of any kind.
Cops say a 45 Caliber handgun with 3 rounds was found in the suspect SUV.
