Video: Cop shoots and kills his cop ex-girlfriend on duty, they use to be in relationship, it clearly didnt end well
New video released in April 2026 shows Chicago Police Officer Krystal Rivera, 36, was shot and killed by her fellow officer Carlos Baker. Officer Krystal and Officer Carlos use to be in a romantic relationship on duty, but Krystal broke up with Officer Carlos. They still had to be police partners.
The shooting was in June 2025. Baker had a history of bad, consequential behavior on and off duty. Officer Krystal and Carlos dated for a few months but Officer Crystal ended her romantic relationship with Officer Carlos, saying that Officer Carlos acted dangerously and made her feel unsafe. In fact Officer Baker had more than a dozen misconduct complaints and three suspensions on his police record.

Officer Krystal even filed to get a new on duty police partner, but her request was not granted at the time of her death. In June 2025 Officer Krystal and Officer Carlos were on patrol together at an apartment complex. They began chasing a suspect for no known reason.

The suspect ran into an apartment unit and locked the door. Adrian Rucker and Jaylin Arnold were in the apartment. Officer Baker then unlawfully without a warrant kicked in the door without a warrant. The residents of the apartment thought someone was breaking in and they retrieved a gun pointing it at the door.

Officer Baker then trips and falls backward while accidentally shooting his gun at Officer Krystal who was a few feet behind him.
Officer Baker runs upstairs and calls for help on his radio while taking cover, saying “shots fired at police”
Officer Baker asked Officer Krystal is she okay and he gets no answer. It appears Officer Baker at the time did not know Officer Krystal was shot and did not know that he had even fired his own gun.

Officer Carlos goes downstairs and sees that Officer Krystal is shot. Officer Carlos calls in on his radio again, this time saying, “We need an ambulance. Ambulance now. I can’t get my partner. Squad, my partners hit.”
The video shows Officer Krystal bleeding on the floor. Other officers arrive on scene and put Officer Krystal in a patrol car, but the cop car crashed and then caught fire with Officer Krystal in it.
Cops pulled Officer Krystal’s dead body from the burning police cruiser and put her in another one. Officer Krystal arrived at the hospital and was pronounced dead. Officer Baker has not been charged with any crime.

The family of Officer Krystal is now suing the Chicago Police Department and the city of Chicago for millions of dollars citing negligence and wrongful death.
Adrian Rucker and Jaylin Arnold were later arrested in the apartment charged with an array of weapons and narcotics charges, they are in Cook County Jail as their cases remain pending. Guns and drugs were allegedly found in the apartment after the shooting.
