Watch a sink hole cave in and trap 2 vehicles on busy intersection
On February 24, 2026 surveillance video captured the moment when 2 cars were stuck in a sinkhole at a busy intersection in Omaha, Nebraska.
In the afternoon 2 vehicles were in the front lanes of an intersection at a red light that included an SUV and a truck. Suddenly a sinkhole formed and caved into the ground, the vehicles were submerged into the ground in seconds.
The drivers were seen climbing out the the cars, one driver was stuck in the pit. Other motorists got out of their vehicles and ran to the aid of the trapped victims.
The first stuck driver was lifted to safety by the civilians. The truck driver that was stuck in the pit was able to go through a passenger door and climb on the hood of the truck to get out of the hole.
The sink hole was caused by a water main break.
