TEENAGER MURDERED MASTER BARBER IN CHARLOTTE

A barber was killed by a teen in his front yard

On March 11, 2026 Derek Johnson, 22, pled guilty to murdering Marcus Withers, 28, on Skyland Avenue Charlotte, NC. Marcus was a master barber in Charlotte.

The shooting took place on June 10, 2020 when Derek was just a teenager. Marcus was shot several times in the front yard of a residence. Emergency officials say they arrived and transported Marcus to Atrium Health Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Derek was soon arrested charged with murder. At his 2026 trial, the jury was dead-locked on a ruling and a mistrial was made.

Derek then decided to plead guilty in exchange for around 100 months in jail.
