On September 2, 2020 detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a 17-year-old male for the murder of Marcus Withers, 28. Marcus was shot and killed on June 10, 2020 in the front yard of a residence on Skyland Avenue Charlotte, NC.
Marcus was shot several times. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and then died.
As a result of continued investigation, homicide detectives identified the 17-year-old juvenile male as a suspect in this case. The juvenile was taken into custody by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. Following an interview by detectives, the juvenile was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.
