TEENAGER KILLED AFTER BEING HIT BY SEVERAL CARS ON NEW YEARS DAY

19-year-old Demetrice Gillespie was hit by multiple vehicles on New Years Day while walking on North Tryon Street in Charlotte, NC, the impacts killed Demetrice. He has a twin brother Darius Gillespie, who is still alive, they both made a live appearance on the Ellen Show to showcase their singing abilities in 2009 or 2010.

Christian Chandler, 22, was arrested, charged hitting Demetrice and fleeing the scene.

On January 1, 2019 at approximately 1:12 a.m., Demetrice was walking on North Tryon Street when he was struck by a black 2013-2018 Nissan Altima.

After being struck, Demetrice was thrown approximately 50 feet into the right hand lane of travel before coming to a resting position. A short time later, a 2007 Honda CRV struck Demetrice causing him to be thrown an additional 60 feet. Once Demetrice came to another resting position, he was struck again by a 2011 Hyundai Sonota and was dragged approximately 1000 feet underneath the Hyundai.

The Hyundai stopped in a parking lot with Demetrice underneath. Both operators remained on scene. The operator of the Nissan Altima, identified as Christian Chandler allegedly did not remain on scene.

Demetrice was wearing dark clothing and was not using a nearby sidewalk.
