15-year-old Janiya Carr was found dead at Carriage House East Apartments in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 1, 2023. The maintenance man at the apartments complex identified as 34-year-old Tevis Walker is charged with Janiya’s murder.
Tevis had recently been hired as a maintenance man for the apartment complex. Janiya was reportedly seen getting in a Kia vehicle that belonged to Tevis on October 31st.
Hours later a Kia vehicle was seen in the wooded area of the Carriage House East Apartments with its lights off, according to surveillance footage.
Days later on November 1st a man walking found Janiya in the tree line area of the apartments dead. Janiya had been shot in the face.
On November 2nd, detectives arrested Tevis and charged him with Janiya’s murder. Tevis was also arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Alabama.
