A multi vehicle crash resulted from a truck spinning out of control on the ice and snow, causing a collision with commercial trucks and cars
On January 31, 2026 a spin out vehicular crash occurred on Independence Blvd. Charlotte, NC. The crash occurred in the afternoon during the height of a major blizzard snow storm that is running across North Carolina and South Carolina dumping 10 plus inches of snow and freezing cold ice. The roads were treated and plowed, but the streets and highways are still slippery due to the big strong snow storm. In the afternoon a vehicle was driving on Independence Blvd in Charlotte.
The vehicle spun out of control on the ice and snow, causing it so collide with other vehicles. Cars and trucks in the back slammed on brakes to avoid the crash, but they ended up crashing into vehicles in front of them.
Some vehicles slid into ditches and down embankments. One truck was seen on top of other vehicles after speed led to the truck going into overdrive while braking and driving on top of smaller cars.
Commercial 18-wheeler trucks were involved and crashed also. Bus routes in Charlotte have been canceled today beginning at 3 p.m.
Injuries were reported in the crash, but no deaths. Th snow will fall for the rest of the day until 11 p.m. The snow storm will then move east and south into South Carolina and the beaches of North Carolina.
