The principal was strangled and assaulted, the superintendent almost lost consciousness
Principal Jennifer Schroeder, 46, was physically assaulted during a fight with parents at Randolph Middle School in Charlotte, NC. Schroeder is the principal at the school. However, on May 20, 2025 Principal Jennifer Schroeder was suspended with pay. Mariah Hector, 33, and Trinity Nixon, 19, are accused of getting into a fight with Principal Schroeder during school hours over an physical altercation involving Mariah’s daughter.

On May 5, 2025, Mariah’s daughter was jumped on by a few kids in a scuffle. Mariah’s daughter called her mom to tell her about the fight. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Mariah, Trinity, and other family members then came to the school together to take matters into their own hands.
The family group is accused of becoming very argumentative with school administrators and entering the school without authorization.
Mariah is then accused of grabbing Area Superintendent Jennifer Dean with both hands around her neck and choking her. School staff had to pull Mariah off of Mrs. Dean.
Mrs. Dean almost lost consciousness and she had a hard time breathing. Mrs. Dean had visible signs of injury around her neck. The fight at the school caused the school to be placed on lock down.
Mariah and Trinity were arrested by responding officers. A few weeks after the assault, Principal Schroeder was suspended on May 20th with pay. It is unclear what the principal was actually suspended for.
Performance Area Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Dean sent a message saying:
“Principal Schroeder is away from campus during end of year testing. We understand that this adjustment in leadership may cause some concerns, but rest assured that this will not affect the daily operations of the school.”
Jennifer Schroeder has worked in CMS since 2004, starting as a math teacher and eventually moving into administration. She became the principal of Randolph Middle in July 2024.
