Demond Dixon, 44, was murdered in a violent shooting on Thanksgiving November 28, 2024. Belton Platt, 38, was arrested on November 29, 2024 charged with Demond’s murder. Belton is a preacher’s kid, his father Belton Platt Sr. spent years in prison after being a notorious cocaine dealer in west Charlotte during the 1980’s, he is now a pastor of a church. Patrol officers responded to a call for a bodily welfare check. Demond was located shot and unresponsive.
Belton was soon arrested and charged with murder. It is not known yet if his pastor father will bail him out of jail.
