MONKEY POX EXPOSURE AT CHARLOTTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Over 20 people were infected or exposed with Monkey Pox at Charles H. Parker Academic Center in March 2024. The elementary school is located at 1546 Walton Road Charlotte, NC.

Monkey Pox is a viral disease that causes rashes and respiratory problems. Monkey Pox spreads via close contact with infected people, and the contact does not have to be sexual.

Officials at the Charles H. Parker Academic Center sent a letter to parents notifying them that a Monkey Pox exposure occurred at the school. Several students in a classroom were infected exposed. Some children were infected.

Staff members at the school were possibly infected too.

Monkey Pox can be spread through physical contact in sports or physical education classes.

Monkey Pox causes skin lesions and bumps that can cover the entire body or just one area.
