Jean Byrd died right at her daughter’s graduation, her heart locked up
On May 23, 2025 Jean Byrd, 50, died at her daughter’s Meilean Byrd graduation in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her daughter Meilean was graduating from high school. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Meilean was graduating from Parkland High School. The graduation was at Joel Coliseum. Jean was walking in the parking lot on the way to see her daughter walk the stage and graduate.
Right before Jean made it to the entrance door, she collapsed to the pavement due to cardiac arrest. Attempts were made to resuscitate her, an ambulance was called in, but Jean died within the hour.
Meilean graduated, and just after she received her diploma, a guidance counselor approached her and told her that her mom was involved in an accident.
Meilean was taken to the hospital where she was told her mother was dead. Meilean was Jean’s youngest child. Jean had a constant battle with heart issues, she had 2 previous heart attacks.
