MAN USED MEET ME PLENTY OF FISH APP TO HAVE SEXUAL CONTACT WITH MINOR

Date:

James Safrit, 33, was sentenced to 120 months in prison on July 6, 2021 for the online enticement of a minor in Charlotte, NC. James used the Meet Me Plenty of Fish app to sexually engage with a minor boy, but James was unknowingly talking to a undercover cop.

According to court documents James used the MeetMe Plenty of Fish dating and social networking application to engage in multiple communications with an FBI undercover employee posing as a minor boy.

James used the application between January 9th and January 21, 2020

Court records show that during these communications, James discussed his interest in engaging in sexual contact with the minor and made arrangements to meet the minor.

Law enforcement arrested James in Matthews, N.C., when he arrived at the agreed-upon location to meet with the person James thought was a 14-year-old boy, for the purpose of engaging in sexual activities.

James pleaded guilty on June 19, 2020, to enticement of a minor using a means and facility of interstate commerce.

In addition to his prison sentenced James was also ordered to register as a sex offender and to serve 25 years under court supervision after he is released from prison.
