Suspect with serious mental health problems murdered his dad at a residence
On February 11, 2026 Desmond Dunlap, 23, pled guilty to murdering his own father Fred Dunlap, 79, in Charlotte, NC.
Fred was killed in July 2024. Desmond and Fred got into a argument at their home. Desmond then murdered Fred. Desmond took medication as he has mental health problems.
Fred was reported missing on July 22, 2024. But two days later on July 24th Fred was found dead buried in the back yard of his home on Bobby Lane, Charlotte, NC.

It appears Fred was beat to death. On July 25th Desmond was arrested charged with Fred’s murder. Desmond was also charged with card theft and obtain property by false pretense.
Desmond lived in the home with his father Fred. In February 2026 Desmond pled guilty to murder and received 240 months in prison.
