Date:

Antonio Bennett, 30, was killed in a vehicular wreck on September 5, 2020 in a daytime crash. Shomari Hakeem Javon Pinkney, 29, is criminally charged in the crash.

The car accident was on West Boulevard Charlotte, NC and involved a three-motor vehicle crash with injury.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a car was hit near the West Blvd and Remount Road intersection as it tried to make a left turn. A Lexus vehicle driven by Shomari was attempting to pass the vehicle making the left turn, Shomari allegedly crossed the double yellow center dividing line at approximately 90-100 MPH in a 35MPH zone and hit the vehicle that was making the left turn.

The Lexus then slid out control for 200 feet before striking the Dodge truck.

Shomari, Antonio, and a third man were all occupants in the Lexus and were transported by ambulance to Atrium Health Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, Antonio was pronounced deceased.

Speed and reckless driving are contributing factors for the Lexus. Upon Shomari’s release from the hospital, he will be charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving, and driving while license revoked.
