MAN ACCUSED OF WEST TRADE ST. SHOOT OUT

Dequaven Reid, 25, was arrested on September 21, 2024 accused of being involved in a large shootout near uptown Charlotte, NC on West Trade Street. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

On September 21, 2024, a shootout occurred on West Trade street, 5 individuals got out of a black SUV and were shooting at 2 other vehicles.

Footage from the scene showed multiple individuals exit the SUV and begin shooting. Two of the suspects in the SUV then began running after a Chrysler 300 vehicle and shooting. 

Cops say Dequaven is seen holding a firearm in his hand. Another man was seen holding a firearm in his waistband. 

The suspects then got back in the SUV and drove off. Officers later located a vehicle on Glenwood Dr., determined to be involved in the shooting. 

Cops attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Officers then initiated a vehicle pursuit, which can be dangerous to innocent motorists. 

The driver fled in excessive speed recklessly weaving in and out of traffic and striking an uninvolved vehicle while fleeing. 

The chase finally came to an end and Dequaven was arrested, identified as the driver. Cops say Dequaven was involved in the shooting on West Trade Street.

Dequaven was charged with discharging weapon into occupied property, possession of gun by felon, and flee arrest with vehicle. The other suspects were not caught.
