Eric Macken, 41, died in a truck crash on August 20, 2024 in Charlotte, NC. Scott Austin, 44, was arrested on August 28, 2024 charged with running over Eric with a Dodge Ram truck.
The wreck was on August 19, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. on Providence Road. A GMC Yukon was turning from Pineville-Matthews Road onto Providence Road.
The impact of the crash caused the Ram pickup to spin and strike Mr. Macken who was crossing the roadway on foot in a marked crosswalk.
The Dodge Ram continued and struck a Volkswagen vehicle too.
The Dodge Ram truck had heavy damage to the driver’s side, the GMC SUV also had heavy damage. Paramedics transported Eric to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
On August 20, 2024, Eric was pronounced deceased on his hospital bed. A warrant was later issued for Scott, he was arrested on August 28, 2024 charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
