Samara Black, 26, was arrested on August 8, 2022. Samara is a nurse discharge planner at the Mecklenburg County Jail in Charlotte, NC. Samara is employed by the jail’s inmate healthcare services provider, Wellpath.
Samara was arrested after she was accused of providing a cellular phone to a inmate that was incarcerated in the jail.
Samara got the job with Wellpath on June 19, 2020, and she was fired on August 8, 2022.
Officials opened an investigation after receiving information alleging that Samara was smuggling contraband into the detention center.
State law prohibits people incarcerated from having cellular phones and it is a Class H felony for a person to provide a mobile telephone or any other communication devices to any inmate.
Samara is charged with furnishing mobile phones to inmate.
