JAIL GUARD ARRESTED ACCUSED OF GIVING INMATE A CELL PHONE

A Mecklenburg County jail guard in Charlotte, NC was arrested on March 13, 2024 accused of giving a cell phone to an inmate. The guard is identified as Detention Officer Ayana Dillion.

Officer Ayana allegedly provided a mobile phone to a inmate in the Mecklenburg County Jail in uptown Charlotte. Several cops have been arrested, including some that were accused of giving phones to inmates.

Cops opened an investigation after receiving reports of an illegal phone inside the jail among the inmates. During the investigation, it was found that Officer Ayana had provided a inmate with a mobile phone. 

State law prohibits the furnishing of mobile phones to persons in custody in a local confinement facility.  

Officer Ayana was arrested and charged with providing phone to inmate. 

The officer’s employment began at the jail on October 20, 2021, the officer was fired on March 12, 2024.
