A inmate dies in the uptown Charlotte jail, jail guards are accused of ignoring inmates medical needs until it is too late
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the March 27, 2024 death of 42-year-old inmate Renny Mobley. Renny was imprisoned at the jail at 801 East Fourth Street Charlotte, NC.

On March 27, 2024, at 4:56 am, Renny had a medical emergency in his jail cell. A jail detention officer discovered Renny unresponsive. A staggering amount of inmate deaths have occurred at the Mecklenburg County jail.
Lifesaving measures were administered and continued until emergency medical personnel arrived. At approximately 5:12 am, the Charlotte Fire Department arrived along with Mecklenburg EMS at 5:19 am.
Emergency officials continued lifesaving efforts as they transported Renny to Atrium Main Hospital.
Renny was pronounced deceased at approximately 5:18 pm. while inside the hospital. Earlier this week a gastrointestinal outbreak occurred at the jail infecting 50 inmates.
Multiple inmates have complained that jail guards ignore them when they ask for help and medical attention while in their cells.
