Jermaine Bass, 30, is accused of shooting two of his children in the head on August 29, 2022 in Tampa, FL. A 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were shot. The young girl died from the shooting.
Just after 10:30 p.m., a shooting occurred at a residence located on Heritage Club Drive. The mother of the kids went to the bathroom, leaving the father and the kids alone in the bedroom.
The mother then heard several shots from a gun. Jermaine is accused of shooting both of his kids in the head. The mother ran outside scared and calling for help. Jermaine also ran outside and said the shooting was an accident.
Once on scene, deputies located two young children with gunshot injuries to the head. Both children were rushed to Tampa General Hospital. The 5-year-old victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The 8-year-old victim is currently in critical condition.
Jermaine is charged with murder in the first degree premeditated firearm discharge multiple wounds causing death, attempted murder in the first degree premeditated firearm discharge, and aggravated child abuse firearm causing critical injuries.
