On May 18, 2023 a double shooting occurred on a Charlotte Area Transportation System bus on Outlets Boulevard Charlotte, NC. A CATS bus driver pulled out a gun on a passenger.
Around noon a passenger started a verbal argument with the CATS bus driver. The passenger then pulled out a gun, and the bus driver also pulled out a gun.
The bus driver and the passenger then shot at each other. The bus driver and the passenger were both taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
According to CATS it’s against policy for a CATS employee to have a weapon on CATS property or while performing their job.
