CHARGES DROPPED AFTER FATHER MURDERED IN WEST CHARLOTTE

On February 16, 2023 a slew of charges were dismissed after Joshua Hollingsworth, 20, was murdered in Charlotte, NC. Jamal Harris, 24, was originally charged with the homicide of Hollingsworth. But Jamal’s murder charges were dismissed also.

Hollingsworth was shot and killed on June 29, 2021 on Mayfield Terrace Drive Charlotte, NC around 11:45 p.m. Hollingsworth was a father of 2 kids. 

On July 1, 2021 Jeremiah Wingo, 17, and Jamal were identified as suspects. Jamal was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Jeremiah was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

However, in October 2022 Jamal’s charges were dropped/dismissed by prosecutors after they could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Jamal didn’t act in self-defense.

On February 16, 2023 Jeremiah Wingo who is now 19-years-old pleaded guilty to felony obstruction of justice, as a result in a deal, prosecutors then dismissed the accessory after the fact to murder charge.

Jeremiah was sentenced to 24 months of probation and 100 hours of community service with no jail time.
