On Father’s Day June 18, 2023 Jason Grier, 38, of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department died from stage 4 cancer. Jason was a detective with the department. Father’s Day is also Juneteenth weekend. Jason was a father and husband.
Jason had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in April 2023. Jason began his career in October of 2002 and was most recently assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit.
Jason had strong ties to the West Boulevard corridor and maintained a working knowledge of offenders in the area. Jason was responsible for arrest warrants in west Charlotte and tracking down suspects. His cancer death brought that to an end for him.
Jason died early in the morning. Cancer has a knack to eat up the inside of one’s body, shutdown the body defenses, and eventually cause death.
Jason leaves behind a wife, kids, and family.
