1-year-old Jailyn Candelario was found dead on June 16, 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio. Police arrested the baby’s mother 31-year-old Kristel Candelario.
Kristel went on vacation on June 6, 2023, to Puetro Rico and Detroit. Kristel left her baby in a home alone in a play pen for 10 days while she was on vacation, court records show.
Baby Jailyn had little to no food and water. Kristel returned to the house from vacation and found Jailyn dead in the same play pen she was left in for 10 days alone. Jailyn was dehydrated.
The baby’s pen consisted of soiled blankets and a bottom liner, saturated with urine and feces.
Kristel called 911 and reported her daughter dead. Kristel was arrested on June 17, 2023 and charged with murder.
Her bond was set at $1 million. Medical examiners reported that starvation was a contributed cause of death for Jailyn.
