MAN USED BEAUTY SALON AS FRONT TO SELL CRACK COCAINE

Matthew Gbozah, 37, was sentenced to 4 years in prison on February 4, 2025 for selling crack cocaine out of the beauty salon that he owned in Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Matthew owned and operated a booming beauty salon. Beginning in March 2022, Matthew sold illegal drugs, including cocaine, on multiple occasions to undercover officers.

On July 14, 2022, officers executed a search warrant at the beauty salon owned by the defendant where they had purchased the drugs and they seized approximately 88 grams of cocaine.

Matthew was arrested and charged with cocaine offenses. In 2025 a jury convicted Matthew of trafficking in cocaine, three counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, three counts of sale of cocaine, and three counts of delivery of cocaine.

A judge sentenced Matthew to 35-51 months in prison. Crimes at barbershops are fairly common.
